Company / History
1998
December
Dr. Avinoam Dukler and his close friend Dr. Nir Dotan realize that there is little emphasis being placed on glycans, sugar molecules, despite all effort in both genetics, researching, mapping the human genome, proteomics and the study of proteins. This frustration is the inspiration to start Glycominds.
1999
February
Avinoam Dukler and Nir Dotan file a pivotal patent on developing a complex-carbohydrate library as a glycan array for the identification of novel biomarkers.
May
The LinearCode, a new syntax to describe complex glycans in a linear fashion is written by Avinoam Dukler.
August
GlycoChip® array technology is developed. This required developing breakthrough technology to immobilize glycans.
2000
January
The company completes its series A funding, raising $1.3 million, from family and friends of the founders.
August
20,000 scientific publications on glycans and human diseases are downloaded into the most comprehensive glycan database ever assembled.
December
The company identifies a proprietary set of 150 glycans relevant to autoimmunity and cancer.

October
Glycominds and Schott Glass collaborate to develop a HTS glycan array.
2002
January
Glycominds develops a systematic approach for anti-glycan antibodies screening and completes the first proof of concept studies to discover biomarkers for diseases. This methodology is the basis for all future glycan biomarkers discovery at Glycominds.
